Travel report day 12 - heading for Osaka

20h: Kaikaku-jin temple was awesome, if a little rushed. It is painted all in gold and stands by a beautiful lake, surrounded by no quite so beautiful tourists. (An I don't only mean us;) I threw a coin into the wishing-pot at first try, which surprised me.

17h: We are spending another hour at the Kyoto train station. Packing bags was getting kind of difficult due to all the crap I bought, but eventually I managed. I published our calender for those interested in following our trail of madness here .

30h: The hotel where we check in is situated in the middle of hysteric red-light titties joints that just wait to let lose with the beginning of the night. We flee from the oncoming attack on our good taste by trying out the onsen on the 12th floor. The bath is not called 'observatory bath' for nothing: the sight is amazing, we plan to take pictures as soon as possible, which might prove to be a bit tricky.

27h: Osaka is oh so much more than we had expected. The city seems to compress a lot of impressions you might also find in Tokyo, without trying to look trendy. This makes Osaka even more authentic. We stumble into Dotonbori dori in Minami district by simply following the bright lights that are reflected in the river. The sight is incredible. An awesome amount of small but individual clothes and record shops all give the impression of a unique style, instead of a copy of western pop culture. Kids look quite freaky even on a Tuesday evening, which lets you expect more from weekend's crowds. I take 5 shots of graffiti, one of them obviously being from the recent Ninja Tunes Japan-tour! We're a little too late for the shops, as they all close around 8 p.m.

15h: The toilet of hell just sent a stream of water up my ass. What looks like a Shinkansen - cockpit is in fact our throne of relieve. *shivers*
