Travel report day 15 - post scriptum

10:43h: Our last ride on the Shinkansen. Very decent sushi, wrapped beautifully in a wood-looking plastic box and a big can of Asahi beer knock us out for good. Later, we spot a familiar sight on the subway:

17:00h: We got to Tokyo without problems, and found our Capsule Hotel really easily as well. It is located next to a river, in a small and slightly shabby looking side road. We climb up to the second floor along a narrow out door staircase, and find a place that looks a little like it's been the same for the last 30 years.

We leave our baggage and take of for Shibuya once more after taking some nice pics of this weird golden fart cloud at the other side of the river:

19:00h: The fugu-Restaurant we took pictures of in Shibuya proves to be very classy and friendly. Although I was initially opposed to spending lots of money on some small piece of supposedly deadly fish, I quite like the ambience of our little wooden cabin.

We ask the waitress for the proper drink for fugu, and get something that smells like sake, contains Shiitake mushrooms and burns as the waitress lights it.

--------------- \ ( * o * ) / ---------------
Vegans and vegetarians stop here!

Since we ordered some fugu-set, we get the starters quite soon: thin, transparent slices of fish. We carefully try them, not toppling over into the water the waitress heats up. The water, by the way, is contained in a paper-lined straw basket. We are puzzled about the paper not leaking or burning away, but are too busy trying to spot potential death symptoms.

Finally, a huge pot full of vegetables, mushrooms and fugu arrives. We had our doubts about whether the fish would be authentic or fresh, but not anymore: the individual pieces are still pulsating and twitching, looking very lively indeed! We are briefly advised on how long to cook it and left to our own devices....

...and that's about all I can tell you. The taste was both boring, in terms of 'tastes like water' and exhilarating, as in 'I'm alive!'

Status: alive!
Frame of mind: slightly out of balance
In need of some quiet time: definitely!

p.p.s: Whoa! Our crappy capsule hotel (3000¥) has a great view over the river! And, another bath with windows ! Joy!!
