Wipeout Pure gamma pack 2 released - PSP still unstable

The second download pack for Sony's Wipeout Pure is available for download. Still the game is unstable when waking it from sleep in game.

While many may dismiss this detail as a minor problem, you have to understand that the ability to wake the PSP while playing WP becomes crucial when playing the Ascension Tournaments. The game is designed as a handheld game, with the typical playing times taking about 2-4 minutes.
However, playing a tournament, which is incidentally the only way to gain new challenges, requires the player to keep playing for 4, or 8 tracks in a row. This is too long for most mobile gaming sessions, so the player will resort to the convenient sleep mode in-between tracks.

Which is broken once the game loads data from the memory stick, which can be tracks but also only the new 'tigron' ship. If this happens, the game will resume running for approximately 10 seconds, then go into a freeze-reboot state.

The solution to playing tournaments with sleep mode is simple: move the gamma packs from your memory stick to your computer before going on a longer trip, and put them back when you want to play the new tracks.

The question remains if this deficiency is due to poor design on Sony's PSP side, or buggy code of the game. Stay tuned for more info on this matters.

The new gamma pack 2 contains two new tracks and two new skins.
