San Francisco is this year's host of the annual Game
Developers Conference.
GDc 2005 in San
Francisco. Ok, so we arrived two days early.
This was good, as the conference stated out with a really good talk by Katherine
Isibister.
First things first, though. I
went to see Uematsu Sama at the Nob Hill Auditorium,
Dear
Friends was the title of the symphonic concert
featureing music from the last ten installments of Final Fantasy. The music was
performed acurrately and directed accordingly, showing just how little
interpretation and subtlety is present in Video Game Scores. If you played the
games, you get the bonus of emotional connection, so people enjoyed it anyway. I
fell asleep from jet lag.
Next day we
walked a little too much, but here are some impressions. More to
